Volunteer With Us

Heart of Cartm runs on people who show up. Here's where we need you most right now.

We're a small operation with a big footprint—a creative reuse store, a community studio, and a growing slate of programs, all run by a lean team.

Volunteers are how this works. If any of the roles below feel like a fit, we'd love to hear from you.

MOST NEEDED RIGHT NOW

Store Volunteer

We need someone to hold down the fort on Sundays. You'd be greeting customers, answering questions about what we do, and handling purchases on our Square register—which is genuinely simple, and we'll show you everything you need to know.

No retail experience required. Friendly, curious, and comfortable hanging out with strangers? That's the whole job.

ALSO MOST NEEDED RIGHT NOW

Board of Directors

Heart of Cartm is governed by a working board, and we're actively looking for people who want to help shape where this organization goes. Board members attend monthly meetings and engage in the strategic work of keeping a small nonprofit healthy—fundraising, community connections, financial oversight, and planning.

We're especially interested in people with backgrounds in finance, law, fundraising, marketing, or local community networks. But the most important thing is that you care about what we're building here.

MONTHLY MEETINGS | EVERY 4TH THURSDAY

OPEN INVITATION

Open-Studio Host

This one is simple: show up to the studio, do your thing, and be a presence. You don't need to teach or facilitate anything—just be there while others use the space to make, experiment, or decompress. Think of it as showing up to your own creative practice somewhere that also happens to be open to the community.

We're working to fill studio hours during the times the store is open, but we're flexible and genuinely want to figure out what works for you. If you have a practice—collage, drawing, tinkering, building, anything—and would enjoy doing it around other people, reach out and let's talk.

Expert Fixers for Repair Café

We're always grateful for skilled volunteers who can help community members fix broken things—electronics, clothing, furniture, bikes, appliances, and more.

Repair Café happens every second Saturday of the month.
