Storytellers 2024 Information Page

Deadline to Register for storytelling is May 1st, 2024

Anyone can tell a story up to 7 minutes in length, which captures the emotional connection between humans and their belongings.

Festival theme: Rising From the Trashes…hilarious tales of dumpster diving, sorrowful poems of things lost to time or sweet songs of treasures found.   Trash Tales is a powerful event that brings us together in community.

Storytellers attend this event for free. Festival passes are just $20, so if you plan to attend other events, please purchase a button.

Details or Rules or Something

Our expectations:

  • Your story should be inspired by trash…waste, debris, detritus, discards, disposables, antiques, relics, dumpster dives, lost, found, turned around. We want to hear about it! The festival theme is Rising From the Trashes. Does that inspire you?

  • Your piece should be no longer than 7 minutes in length. We need variety.

  • Your tale can be a poem, song, essay, spoken word piece, etc. etc.

  • Memorized or not is just fine. You may use notes.

  • Your story should not alienate, humiliate, or oppress other people. Be cool.

What happens next:

  1. Tell us you want to be a storyteller via the Trash Bash webpage.

  2. Get the event on your calendar - Friday, May 17, 5-7pm. (Please arrive by 4:45.)

  3. Write your story!

  4. Practice it to make sure you can keep it under 7 minutes, including any story that precludes your story. Seriously.
